Parented Programs (Nature Nuts)


Spring Session: April/ May

It’s time to pull on your favourite boots (or running shoes), grab a raincoat and get outside for some nature playtime in our outdoor classrooms.  You will play, craft, explore and learn in St. Albert’s natural spaces while soaking up some Vitamin D with your child. This session there are two exciting options to choose from:


Nature Nuts – Lois Hole Provincial Park

Offered in Partnership with Alberta Parks

Who: Children ages 2 – 5. Babies under a year can be worn but please no strollers.  Adults ages 18 – 100

When:  Tuesdays, April 14 – May 19, 2020

Time: 1:00 – 2:30 pm

Where: Lois Hole Provincial Park.  Accessed by turning off Ray Gibbon Drive across from the Enjoy Centre.  Classes will start from the shelter beside the parking lot.

What: SANS is excited to partner with Alberta Parks to bring nature play to Lois Hole Provincial Park.  Nestled along the edge of St. Albert, this location  allows us to add bird watching, pond dipping and learning about Big Lake into our programming.  Our trained nature educators will lead a program of park exploration and play; partnering with experts along the way to help us learn a little more about the park and its inhabitants.

Cost: $75/ child (adults are free)


Nature Nuts – SANS Classroom

Who: Children ages 2 – 5, Adults ages 18 – 100. Due to the type of programming offered at this site children under 2 (even if wearing them) are not allowed.

When:  Thursdays, April 16 – May 21

Time: 12:30 – 2:30 pm

Where: 215 Sturgeon Road. St. Albert Nature School is located in the St. Albert Minor Baseball Association Clubhouse. The forest and the fields around the clubhouse are our classroom. Classes take place outside so please come dressed for the weather.

What:  Taking place in our classroom in the field and forest by St. Albert Minor Baseball Association, this programming involves playing in the mud kitchen, climbing trees and exploring St. Albert’s river valley.  Our fun and nature loving staff will guide you through 2 hours of activities, crafts and playtime with your child.

Cost: $85/ child (adults are free)

These classes runs rain or shine.  During extreme weather, the program will be cancelled and not rescheduled.

These are parented programs, so you must plan for 1 adult to attend every class.

Please note that registrations will be accepted online or by email in the order they are received.   DO NOT send an e-transfer with your application. We will contact you within 24 hours via e-mail if you have a spot in the class and will ask for payment at that time. You will then have 48 hours to submit your payment via e-transfer to hold your spot in the class.   Due to the popularity of this program we will waitlist those not in the class and only notify those with a spot in the class. Refunds (minus $10 processing fee)  will be granted with 30 days notice prior to start date.
